HONG KONG SOCIETY REGISTRATION
HONG KONG SOCIETY RECOGNITION PROCESS
A "society" or "social group" typically refers to an organization comprising more than one person. Regardless of its nature or purpose, and except for specific circumstances where partial exemption applies, the establishment of such a group must be approved and registered with the Police Licensing Office.
- Our services to assist in this process include:
- Establishing Society Constitution
- Maintaining Event Records
- Managing the Application for Society Recognition
- Liaising with Authorities: Assisting with all communications, including responding to questions and formal letters from the Inland Revenue Department throughout the approval process.
The Police Licensing Office does not mandate a specific format for the society's charter. Our team, with its experience and expertise in drafting regulatory documents for society applications, can provide professional advice and write a comprehensive constitution based on your ideas. This ensures your society's operations are built on a solid legal foundation.
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS FOR SOCIETY GROUP APPLICATION
- A copy of the Hong Kong Identity Card or other valid identity document for all three office-bearers.
- Proof of the society's business address.
- A consent letter from the legal occupier of the premises (if applicable), along with a clear copy of their Hong Kong ID or other valid identity document.
- The society's rules, constitution, or meeting minutes demonstrating its objectives and purpose.
- Qualification documents for the society's designated trustees (if applicable; for example, a trustee certificate).
- The proposed name of the society.
According to information from the Police Licensing Office, if applicants submit all required documents, the processing time is typically 12 working days. However, the actual review may take several months.
